Membership should be simple. With Passtastic, you can launch protected, perk-based memberships that only real members can access. Members get a digital card; you control who can install it using a validation code. No points, no balances—just clear perks that move your bottom line and protect your margins.
1) Cafes — Members-only 10% off every purchase
- Business value: Predictable margin trade for repeat visits; simple to explain.
- Setup in Passtastic:
- Create a campaign → select “Members-only card”.
- Add the perk to the card description (e.g., “Members-only: 10% off every purchase”).
- Recommended: Enable data collection to capture name and optionally email/phone.
- Issuance:
- Data collection ON: Use Customers → “Generate Codes” for bulk or “Add Customer” for single. Share codes at the counter or on receipts. Customer enters code + details to install.
- Data collection OFF: Use “Add Customer”, input their details, share their code. Customer enters code to install.
2) Cafes — Early-bird hours for members
- Business value: Pull demand to slower morning windows.
- Setup:
- “Members-only card” → describe perk as “Members-only hours, 7–9 AM”.
- Data collection ON if you want light CRM (recommended).
- Issuance:
- Bulk codes at the register; staff say “Here’s your code to join—scan our QR and enter this code.”
3) Cafes — Free size upgrade on Tuesdays
- Business value: Habit-building weekday uplift.
- Setup:
- “Members-only card” → perk copy: “Free size upgrade on Tuesdays.”
- Data collection: Optional; ON enables bulk codes for busy service.
- Issuance:
- Hand out unique codes at checkout; promote via a counter card with a QR linking to your pass.
4) Salons — Priority booking for members
- Business value: Fill the calendar with higher-intent clients; reduce no-shows.
- Setup:
- “Members-only card” → perk copy: “Priority booking + text reminders.”
- Data collection OFF is common here—staff usually know the client and can input details.
- Issuance:
- Use Customers → “Add Customer”, enter name/email/phone, share the code. Client enters code and installs the pass.
5) Salons — Members-only add-on (e.g., complimentary scalp massage)
- Business value: Increases perceived value without discounting core services.
- Setup:
- “Members-only card” → perk copy: “Members-only add-on: complimentary scalp massage.”
- Choose ON or OFF for data collection based on your front desk workflow.
- Issuance:
- If OFF, receptionist adds details during checkout and hands over the code.
- If ON, print/share codes so clients self-complete details.
6) Clubs/Vineries — VIP tasting room access
- Business value: Protect access and maintain exclusivity with controlled issuance.
- Setup:
- “Members-only card” → perk copy: “VIP tasting room access.”
- Data collection ON recommended to capture member details and enable bulk code runs.
- Issuance:
- Use “Generate Codes” for a batch; email or hand them to approved members.
- At entry, members show the installed pass; staff scan to verify membership.
How members-only works (quickly)
- Members-only card: In the campaign stepper, choose “Members-only card” to require a validation code for installation.
- Two issuance modes:
- With data collection enabled: You generate codes and share them; customers enter the code and fill their details themselves. Supports bulk code generation.
- Without data collection: You enter customer details (name, email, phone) when adding a member; customers only enter the code to install. No bulk codes in this mode.
- UI hints:
- “Members-only card” selection in the stepper.
- “Data collection” toggle in the stepper.
- On Customers page: “Add Customer” and (when eligible) “Generate Codes”.
- Consumers see “Validation Code” and “Enter your validation code” on the install page.
Running a membership program also means staying on top of recurring touchpoints — renewal reminders, scheduled check-ins, VIP booking windows. If those aren't already handled by your existing stack, tools like Time Tailor take care of the time-management side so you can focus on the rewards layer.
Front-desk workflow (simple)
- Staff share or type a code for the customer.
- Customer opens your join link or QR, taps “Get Pass,” and enters the “Validation Code.”
- If data collection is ON, they also fill in the fields you enabled.
- The pass installs to their wallet; at checkout or entry, staff can scan the card to confirm membership status.
UI mini-guide: create pass & issue codes
- In the campaign stepper:
- Select “Members-only card.”
- Add your perk(s) in the card information step.
- Toggle “Data collection” ON if you want customers to submit their info and to enable bulk codes.
- Publish your card.
- On the Customers page:
- For members-only cards, click “Add Customer” to issue a code for one person.
- If data collection is enabled, you’ll also see “Generate Codes” to create codes in bulk.
- Members use “Enter your validation code” on the install page to get their card.
Tips for smooth rollout
- Keep the perk copy short and specific on the pass.
- Train staff to say: “Scan this QR and enter your code to join.”
- Consider code expiration that fits your flow (e.g., default 72 hours).
- Promote with a counter card/door sticker linked to your join URL.
