The New iPhone Card Look (iOS 27)
On iPhones with iOS 27, Apple Wallet can show your card in a new, bigger look: your photo fills the whole card. You choose it for each program. Customers on older iPhones keep the card they have today, so nobody loses anything.
What customers see on iOS 27
- Your photo fills the whole card, with your logo in the top-left corner. No photo? Your card colour fills it as a soft gradient instead.
- The QR code sits in a white box in the middle of the card. Your staff scan it exactly as before.
- At the bottom, your business name is the big title, with what you put in positions 1 and 2 of Card layout next to it (on a stamp card that's usually the stamps; the customer's name shows only if you pick Customer name for a position, as the templates do). Up to 3 items sit next to the name, and a 4th shows as a small line at the bottom. What you picked for Top right stays in the top-right corner, unless it's your business name.
- Under the card, Apple shows a View Offers and Rewards button. It opens the customer's own page, your customer portal. It's there only when your customer portal is switched on, and it shows under both looks, the new one and Classic.
Apple decides the button's wording and icon. We can't change them.
Who sees what
- iPhones with iOS 27: the new look, once your program uses it.
- Older iPhones: the card they have today, unchanged.
- Android (Google Wallet): the card looks the same as today. When your customer portal is switched on, a My rewards link to the customer's page comes first in the card's bottom section.
Turning it on for an existing program
Programs you already have stay on Classic until you choose.
1. Open your program. On the Overview tab you'll see New look for your card on iPhone, with your own card today and in the new look side by side. Click Use new look. It opens Setup → Design. (You can also go there yourself: Setup tab → Design.)
2. Under iPhone look, pick New. The preview on the right is the only picture of your card.
3. Under Photo on the card, add your photo. A cropper opens with two steps. First, Banner (Shown where customers join your program, on Android and on older iPhones.): move the frame to choose what shows, then click Next. Then Full card on new iPhones (Fills the whole card on iPhones with iOS 27.): a tall frame that starts centred on your banner. Move it so the QR code doesn't cover what matters, then click Apply. Back takes you to the first step.
4. Click Publish.
Your customers don't need to do anything. Customers who already have your card get the new look by themselves within a few minutes — nothing to reinstall. Android and older iPhones stay as they are.
Not now hides the offer on the program page for good. The setting stays in Setup → Design, so you can switch whenever you like.
Owners, Admins and Editors can change the look and see the offer. Viewers can see the setting and the preview but can't change them.
New programs and templates
New programs start on the new look, and so does every template. Template photos are already placed so the QR code doesn't cover the main subject. There's no iPhone look setting while you create a program: in the preview, tick Older iPhones to see what older iPhones and Android show, and if you'd rather use Classic, pick it later in Setup → Design → iPhone look. When you add your own photo, the same two-step crop opens: Banner first, then Full card on new iPhones.
The preview
On the Setup tab and while you create a program, the iPhone preview shows the new look. Tick Older iPhones next to it to see the classic card, with the note Customers on iPhones older than iOS 27 see this version. When a program uses Classic, the preview shows only the classic card and the switch isn't there. Right after you apply a photo crop, Older iPhones flashes briefly so you can compare.
On the Setup tab, the preview also shows the View Offers and Rewards button under the card when your customer portal is switched on.
How your stamps look
The new look follows what you chose under Stamps on the card (see Stamps on your card):
- Photo only: your photo fills the card, and the stamps show as a row of dots at the bottom, next to your business name (when Stamps progress is in position 1 of Card layout, as it is on most stamp cards).
- Stamps over photo: your stamps are drawn on the photo above the QR code, with the top of the photo slightly darkened so they stand out. The bottom shows your reward. Without a photo it looks like Stamp grid only.
- Stamp grid only: your card colour fills the card as a gradient, with large stamps above the QR code. The bottom shows your reward.
On a level card with the points balance set On the photo, the balance is drawn on the picture above the QR code too.
Framing your photo
Wherever you add the card photo, a cropper opens: under Photo on the card in Setup → Design (the Edit card button on the program page takes you there), and in Look & feel when you create a program. In Setup → Design, iPhone look sits above Photo on the card.
- New iPhone look: two steps. Banner is the wide frame, shown where customers join your program, on Android and on older iPhones. Full card on new iPhones is a tall frame that starts centred on your banner. Use Next, Back and Apply. On the second step, Use a different image lets you cut the full card from another, taller picture, for example a tall version of a designed banner. Use the banner image goes back to your banner photo.
- Classic: only the banner step, as before. We also make the full-card version for you, centred on the banner, so switching to New later looks sharp straight away. To frame it yourself, switch to New and upload the photo again.
- Photos without a full-card crop: a template or gallery photo, or one added before the two-step crop, has no full-card crop, so there is nothing to drag. Under Photo on the card you'll see For a sharper photo on new iPhones, upload your own and frame the full card. Click the photo and upload your own. Until then the card uses the centre of the photo (or the position a template set).
Photos with text on them
The new look cuts your wide photo to fit a tall card, and the QR code covers its middle. If your photo is a banner with text, a logo or a barcode, the new look shows only part of it. Upload it again and, on the second step, choose Use a different image to cut the full card from a tall version, or keep Classic.
Going back
Pick Classic under Setup → Design → iPhone look and click Publish, any time. Customers' cards switch back the next time they refresh.
