Find Your App Key
What is an App key?
An App key is the password your scanner device uses to connect to your Passtastic account. You need it when logging in to the Scanner app on a phone or tablet.
Find the key for an existing device
1. Open Locations from the sidebar.
2. Go to the Scanners tab.
3. Find your device in the list and click Reveal key.
4. A modal appears with your key. Click Copy to Clipboard to copy it.
Tip: Keep this key secure — anyone with it can use your scanner.
Create a new device and get a key
If you haven't set up a scanner yet:
1. Open Locations from the sidebar, then go to the Scanners tab.
2. Click Add New Device.
3. Enter a name for the device (e.g., "Front Counter iPad").
4. Click Create App key.
5. The key appears in a modal — click Show Key, then Copy to Clipboard.

Lost your key?
You can always reveal it again — keys are not hidden permanently. Go to Locations → Scanners, find your device, and click Reveal key.
Plan limits
The number of scanner devices depends on your plan. If you see "You have reached your plan scanner limit", you'll need to upgrade or revoke an unused device first.
