Find Your App Key
What is an App key?
An App key is the password your scanner device uses to connect to your Passtastic account. You need it when signing in to the Scanner app on a phone or tablet.
Find the key for an existing device
1. Open Locations from the sidebar and open the shop where the device sits.
2. Scroll to the Scanners section and find your device.
3. Click Show key on the device row. A window opens with a QR code and the full key. On the Scanner app, scan the QR code to sign in — or click Copy and paste the key by hand.
Tip: Keep this key secure — anyone with it can use your scanner.
Create a new device and get a key
If you haven't set up a scanner yet:
1. In the shop's Scanners section, click Add a scanner.
2. Enter a Scanner name (e.g. "Front counter") and choose which cards it can accept.
3. Click Create login.
4. The Add a scanner window opens with a QR code and the key. On the Scanner app, scan the QR code to sign the device in — or click Copy and paste the key by hand.

Lost your key?
You can reveal it again any time — keys aren't hidden permanently. Open the shop's Scanners section and click Show key on the device.
Plan limits
The number of scanners depends on your plan, and they're shared across your whole business. If you're at your limit, free up a device or add another — the price is shown before you confirm. See Understanding plan limits.
