Get More Google Reviews From Your Regulars

Google reviews asks your returning customers for a review, once, at a good moment. A few hours after a customer's 2nd visit, their wallet card shows a short message with a link that opens Google's review box for your shop. Your staff do nothing at the counter. It is included on Multi-Location and Groups & Brands.

Set it up

1. Open Settings, then Integrations (under Business), and click the Google reviews tile. Or, from any program's Campaigns tab, click Get more Google reviews ⭐, then Set up. 2. Under Your Google listing, click Find your business on Google, type your business name and city, and pick it from the list. - If you have several shops, there is one row per shop. Connect each shop's own Google listing. If you connect only one, it is used for every shop. Leave a shop empty if it isn't on Google. - If you can't find your business, click Can't find it? Paste your review link and paste the link Google gives you under "Ask for reviews" in your Google Business Profile. 3. Check the Message. It is already written for you, with your business name in it: "Thanks for visiting Corner Café! Got 20 seconds? Tell others what you think on Google. The link is on your card." Edit it if you like. The preview shows how it looks On their lock screen and On the back of their card. 4. Click Turn on.

To change the message or a listing later, edit it and click Save. Turn off stops new requests and removes the review link from your cards and business page.

Who is asked, and when

A customer is asked when all of this is true:

  • They have visited at least twice.
  • Their latest visit was at least 3 hours ago, and not more than 3 days ago.
  • That visit happened after you turned Google reviews on. Customers who already visited are asked after their next visit, so nobody gets a message the day you switch it on.
  • They have never been asked before. Each customer is asked once, ever.
  • The time is between 10:00 and 20:00 in your shop's time zone. A visit at 19:00 is asked the next morning.

A customer is asked about the shop they last visited. If that shop has no Google listing and you connected more than one listing, they are not asked.

While Google reviews is on, every wallet card carries a Review us on Google link, so customers can leave a review later, even if they missed the message. The same link is on your business page.

What the numbers mean

On the setup page and on the program's Campaigns tab you see, for example, On · 143 asked · 38 tapped. The Google reviews tile on the Integrations page shows On · 143 asked.

  • Asked is how many customers were sent the message.
  • Tapped is how many customers opened the review link.
  • Taps from your business page are counted separately, for example "+12 taps from your business page".

Passtastic can't see your Google reviews themselves, so there is no review count here. A tap means the customer opened Google's review box, not that they wrote a review.

Google's rules, and why there is no reward option

Google removes reviews that were rewarded, and it can suspend the listing. So Google reviews is built to stay inside its rules, and there are three things it will not do:

  • No rewards for reviews. You can't give a stamp, points or a discount in exchange for a review. There is no setting for it. Don't mention a reward in your message either.
  • Everyone is asked the same way. There is no "rate us first, and only happy customers go to Google" step. Unhappy customers are asked too.
  • Nothing at the counter. The message arrives hours after the visit, never while the customer is still in your shop.

Who can use it

  • Plans: Multi-Location and Groups & Brands. On other plans the tile shows an upgrade message.
  • Owners, admins and editors can set it up. Viewers can't change it.
  • Members who can't see every shop can't change it either.
