Do a test run at your counter

Before your first customer walks in, serve yourself the way you will serve a regular. On Home, the Do a test run at your counter block takes you through it step by step, and afterwards you know exactly what to do at the counter.

What you need

You need two devices: the phone or tablet you scan with, and a phone that shows your card. The card lives in a phone's wallet, the way your customers will carry it. Only have one phone? Borrow a colleague's or a friend's for the card.

Step 1: Put the scanner on the phone or tablet at your counter

1. Under First, install the app, choose App Store or Google Play and install the Passtastic Scanner app on the phone or tablet you will use at the counter. On a computer, you can also scan the QR code next to the badges with the phone or tablet, or search Passtastic Scanner in the App Store or Google Play.
2. Under Then sign in, open the app and scan the code shown on Home. If scanning does not work, click Type the code by hand instead and type the code into the app. On a phone, click Show code to reveal it, with a Copy button. It signs the app in to your shop. Your staff get their own sign-in code later.
3. When the app is signed in, the step gets a ✓ and the Waiting for you to scan the code label goes away.

Owners, admins and editors can see the code; viewers do not see this block. If the code does not load, use Try again. More on signing in: Install App and Sign In.

Step 2: Scan your own card

Open your card on your phone and scan it with the scanner, just like you will at the counter.

If your card is not on a phone yet, click Your card isn't on a phone yet? Add it under this step. It opens the page where you add the card to the phone that will show it. Once step 1 is done, the step also shows a short video and three lines on how to scan your own card.

Step 3: Give yourself the reward

Keep stamping until the reward unlocks, then redeem it with the scanner, just like you will for a regular. On a points card, keep adding points until the reward unlocks, then redeem it.

If your card is a coupon, a membership or a level card

• Coupon: After the scanner is set up, there is one step: Redeem the coupon. Scan your own card and redeem the coupon, just like you will for a customer.
• Membership, or a level card that counts visits: After the scanner is set up, there is one step: Check yourself in. Scan your own card and check yourself in. There is no reward to redeem.

Skip it and come back later

Not now? Choose Skip, I'll test later. Home moves on to the next block, and a small Do the test run link takes its place. Click it whenever you are ready and the steps come back.

After the test run: Now let your customers find it

When you have scanned and redeemed, Home says Test run done. for a day, and then shows Now let your customers find it:

• Print your QR poster: For the counter or the door. Customers scan it to add your card. Click Download poster.
• Brief your staff: One page: what to say at the counter and how to scan. Click Download.
