Data collection
Decide what information to collect when customers sign up. Less is more - asking for too much information will discourage people from joining.
Basic customer information
Choose which of these to ask for:
- Name - helpful for personal service
- Email - essential if you want to send offers or updates
- Phone - useful for appointment reminders or urgent updates
- Birthday - great for birthday promotions
- Consent - permission to send marketing messages
For each field, you can make it required or optional.
Add your own questions
Create custom questions to better understand your customers:
- Question types: Multiple choice, single choice, or text answers
- Why this matters: Answers automatically create customer groups you can target with specific offers
Examples that work well:
- Coffee shop: "How do you like your coffee?" (Hot, Iced, Either)
- Salon: "What services interest you most?" (Hair, Nails, Skin care)
- Restaurant: "Any dietary restrictions?" (None, Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten-free)
Everyone who answers "Vegetarian" becomes part of a "Vegetarian" customer segment. Later, you can send vegetarian-specific promotions just to them.
Start simple: Begin with just email and one custom question. You can always add more fields later.
